He began life as a simple gardener to the Baggins family and was a loyal friend to Frodo Baggins. Out of devotion to his master, Sam accompanied Frodo on his quest to destroy the One Ring. He was a reliable companion and possessed great endurance and resilience, which enabled him to protect Frodo during the journey. Sam was steadfast and tenacious during many dangers, including the crossing of the Spider Pass in the northern part of the Shadow Mountains. He resisted the lure of the One Ring all the way to Mount Doom until it was finally destroyed there.
